Menopause is a transitional time period when a females ovaries stop functioning and stop producing reproductive hormones. Essentially the ovaries shut down after menopause and hormone levels such as estrogen and progesterone will go down to 0.

Perimenopause usually begins in the early 40s and the average age of full menopause is 52. You will know you are fully in menopause if you have had no periods for a year. Perimenopause can cause mood changes, fatigue, sleep deprivation, hot flashes, night sweats, joint pain, dry skin, decreased libido and vaginal dryness. We can also check your hormone levels to see if you are in meno/perimenopause.

We highly recommend most people that do not have a contraindication utilize Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. If you are female in menopause and have a uterus you will need estrogen and progesterone. If you do not have a uterus you only need estrogen. Both males and females usually need testosterone. Men need 10 times as much testosterone replacement as females but females still need testosterone.
